The guest curator for the 2023 edition of MOMENTA Biennale de l’image discusses the thinking behind its theme, Masquerades: Drawn to Metamorphosis. With concepts such as formation, transformation, and mimetics, Ji-Yoon Han wanted to probe the meaning of identity, as well as the roles of the image and the gaze. The last, which, in her view, is never unidirectional, is an interlacing between the one who looks and the one who is looked at.
